This page attempts to assist in solving some of the problems encountered by some of our users.  These problems stem from either having an older (even up to 1 year old) computer that can not read the compressed video format that is used for our video files or that other installed software applications block the proper translation of the compressed video format.  If you encounter a problem not addressed on this page or you are uncomfortable trying to fix your problem on your own, please feel free to call David Cummings at (530) 263-4019 Cell or send a E-Mail with your name, phone number and a brief description of the problem.  I will respond as soon as possible.  Have a Great and Wonderful Day !!!!!!!

Video Viewing Problems

Screen Displays The Letter Q With or Without A Slash Through It: This error message is generated by the QuickTime program, commonly used in conjunction with the ITunes application to display music videos.  When the QuickTime program is installed, it makes itself the default application for displaying ALL video formats.  This presents a problem because QuickTime can not read the MPEG2 video format. The easiest way to fix this problem is to go into the Settings or Preferences of another media player (Windows Media Player, WinDVD, Intervideo, etc) installed on your computer and set it to being the default media player for the DVD and MPEG2 format. Due to the number of media players available (on-line, retail, etc.), it is impossible for me to cover them all.  Refer to your instruction manual or on-line help to walk you through the process.

Can Not Read File Format: This error message is displayed when your media player (Windows Media Player, WinDVD, Intervideo, etc) can not translate the video file format (commonly referred as a CODEC) used by the recruiting website.  The video format (CODEC) utilized is about 1 year old and is commonly referred to as the MPEG2 video format.  It is a compressed format, commonly used by DVD producers. It is used because it gives the best quality with a fairly small file size.  If you are encountering this problem, please click on the link below and download the self extracting .exe file.  Once downloaded, execute the file and follow the on screen instructions to install the required video translator (CODEC).  Once finished, you should be able to view any video on the Student Athlete Recruiting Services website.
